Though nephrite is the historical gem of China, today the most valuable pieces of jade are actually jadeite because of its rarity. Commercial amounts of this gem come out of Burma and flawless, gem quality pieces can fetch almost outrageous prices.

So be sure to set your expectations high in terms of price and value. A green jade necklace is not going to be the same price as the typical fashion necklaces you purchase on the web.
